Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Senior BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari has written to Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat alleging that the state authorities are not supplying water to many areas of rural Bengal due to political reasons.
In the letter, he has written that people are facing water crisis in a large part of the state. Politically motivated bureaucrats, especially those occupying high positions, are very apathetic about water supply among the poor people of rural Bengal. These people have broken the dream of the Central Government's ambitious "Har Ghar Jal" project.
It is noteworthy that state BJP president Sukant Majumdar went to Bhatpara area of his parliamentary constituency in Balurghat on Thursday where local people surrounded and protested. All said that they are not getting water supply. Sukant Majumdar had said that under the ambitious Jal Jeevan project of the central government, arrangements have been made to supply water to the houses of this village.
However, the local Trinamool leaders have collected Rs. That's why people are angry. A letter will be written to the central government in this regard.
